Rainbow crosswalks and flags have officially graced the many streets of Chicago for Pride Month this June in Chicago. There’s not a single area of Chicago however, that is quite as colorful and feeling the love as much as Boystown. Boystown, located in Lakeview just north of downtown, is the first officially recognized gay neighborhood in the United States as well as the cultural center of one of the largest LGBTQ communites in the nation. So naturally…there’s a ton of pride there! Boystown has events all June to celebrate the progress made in the LGBTQ communities and if you love pride or wanna show your pride you simply must check out some of these events in Boystown this June.
Check Out the Boystown Bar Scene
Boystown’s night scene is just as colorful and exciting as the streets of the neighborhood and while this is true year long, June is when things get even more lively and exciting! With numerous awesome drink specials at many of the bars and restaurants in Boystown, you can celebrate and feel the pride every night of the month. Below are just some of our all-time places in Boystown:
D.S Tequila Company – 3352 N Halsted St
Scarlet Bar – 3320 N Halsted St
Sidetrack – 3349 N Halsted St
Progress Bar – 3359 N Halsted St
Berlin Nightclub – 954 W Belmont Ave
Go to the Chicago Pride Fest
The weekend before the parade you can get mentally prepared for the parade with a MASSIVE block party in the heart of Boystown at Halsted and Waveland. This two-day celebration (and at this point, tradition) will have awesome food and drinks from local Boystown vendors and also numerous musical acts with a prevalent queer following.
End Pride Month at the Chicago Pride Parade
It wouldn’t truly be Pride Month in Chicago without the annual Pride Parade gracing the streets of Chicago with as many rainbows as possible. Except, this year the parade will be extra special as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pride in Chicago with the theme “Stonewall 50: Millions of Moments of Pride”. End Pride Month the right way by celebrating in the first LGBTQ neighborhood in the country on Sunday, June 30th along either Broadway Avenue or Halsted Street in Boystown.
