The Margaritas of Northalsted (formerly Boystown)

Written By: Jessie White

While it may come as no surprise that Chicago has a firm grasp of how to serve a trusted alcoholic beverage it may shock you how many amazing spots you can grab a delicious margarita in the windy city. As one of the most diverse cities in the country, Chicago is home to some of the best mexican cuisine in the Midwest, and bottomless tacos and massive margaritas are an essential part of making that experience so fantastic. Therefore, in the spirit of Cinco de Mayo this month, here is a list of some of the best places to check out if you’re looking for the margarita to rule them all.

D.S Tequila Co.

Ever been to a restaurant that has a margarita so strong that there is a two per person limit? Well, if you head over to the LGBTQ-friendly D.S Tequila Co., you’ll have the chance to taste the infamous “High Octane Margarita” and much more. D.S has delicious mexican entrees (awesome nachos for the whole table), high quality frozen beverages, and of course numerous amazing tequila options to choose from. If tequila is your poison of choice, D.S Tequila Company needs to be on your list.

Cesar’s Killer Margaritas

I mean…it’s in the name, right? And trust us when we say that Cesar is an honest man. Whether you prefer your margs frozen or on the rocks, Cesar will be sure to please with multiple size options that give you the choice of grabbing a quick drink or maybe a slow pitcher to share for the table. With two locations in the Lakeview area, one near Northalsted (formerly Boystown) and the other near Lincoln Park, Cesar’s is the perfect family-friendly place to be able to relax with one of these killer drinks.

Big Star – Wrigleyville

Love tequila but also like having options? Big Star has two locations, one in Wicker Park and the other in Wrigleyville near the Cubs stadium. While Big Star has a ton of options for delicious margaritas, they also step up the game with an extensive house-selected single barrel bourbon program as well as bites that are inspired by authentic Mexican street food. If you like tacos and exploring your liquor options as well, Big Star should be your move.
