What do “Stars and Stripes Forever” and “From Sea to Shining Sea” have in common? They are both patriotic songs, and both featured in the upcoming Grant Park Independence Day Salute! This fourth of July, travel to Chicago and listen to a variety of classics performed by the acclaimed Grant Park Orchestra.

 

Grant Park Independence Day Salute  

On Wednesday, July 4, head to Millennium Park for the Grant Park Independence Day Salute– one of Chicago’s many patriotic traditions. From 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. the Grant Park Orchestra will perform a variety of patriotic tunes, including classics like John Phillip Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever. Along with the concert, 16-year-old pianist Emily Bear will also perform Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, conducted by Christopher Bell. The event will take place at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and tickets can be purchased online. Ticket prices range from $26 to $99, depending on seat location.

 

More About Grant Park Orchestra   

The Grant Park Orchestra is a collection of talented musicians that perform in Chicago several times throughout the year. The Independence Day Salute is part of their larger 2018 Festival Season. During summer, the orchestra features ten weeks of classical performances. The orchestra is typically accompanied by special guests, including violin players and vocalists.
